- Image caption on page 57 of the book US National Library of Medicine: "The bindery of the Army Medical Library in Cleveland, Ohio. Modern scholars and lovers of books and libraries might decry the information lost with the discarded bindings, but standards and practices were different then. Among the highly-trained staff who worked at the bindery and produced the best bindings of the day was Jean Eschmann, shown in the background of this photograph. Eschmann was a master bookbinder from Switzerland."
