Three separate scenes describe the science of alcoholism. The crimes of alcoholism include a man sleeping in a bed with snake-like creatures coming out of his mouth. Another man is rising from a table, knocking over a chair, and assaulting a woman. The engraver is becoming less able to do his work. Paper is falling from the desk to the ground, the engraver is trying to catch it to no avail. And finally the hospital. A man lies in bed while another holds a bowl of soup in front of him.
