Image Description:
Subject: Print of a scene from Sheridan's contemporary play 'Pizarro' with various political figures caricaturized as characters in the play. Sheridan, dressed as Pizarro, stands over his patient Fox, who holds to his nose a bottle labeled 'Essense of Loyalty.' Other noted figures of the day, incuding George III, are shown in the scene. Dialog bubbles appear above the heads of each of the characters. Next to Fox is a cabinet of five drawers, each of which are labeled respectively: 'Patent Medicine'; 'Essence of Loyalty'; 'Court Sticking Plaister'; 'Pizarro Pills'; and 'Anti-Jacobin Drops'.
Note (General):
Imperfect: Severely and irregularly cropped, with loss of title, imprint and the figure of George III on the right.
