An African American couple is sitting on the top step, a white man is seated on one of the lower steps, and a white woman is standing, resting her arm on the banister. The text of the poster addresses the issue of chronic respiratory conditions among older people. They include emphysema, chronic bronchitis, asthma, chronic cough, and shortness of breath. Suggestions are given for reducing the symptoms and to help them breathe easier. The suggestions include: avoiding tobacco smoke; staying indoors when the air quality index shows poor air quality; reducing mold, dust, and roaches in the home; and checking furnace and heating units every year.
