Note (General):
|
One of a series of twelve paintings "after the manner of" twelve artists. The posters are part of what is referred to by the accompanying literature as a "caduceus" series by Roussel Laboratories in France. The images really represent the staff of Aesculapius (one serpent encircling the staff) as opposed to a caduceus (two serpents encircling the staff, coming from opposite directions). The posters have numbers on the back ranging from 147 to 158, this being no. 150.
