Subject: The painting shows a serpent in an upright position with its body curved next to the stem of a plant. The serpent is in shades of blue and red, and the plant has a blue stem, two leaves, and a red flower consisting of a section of a circle. The sun is partially blocked by the plant and is a red and yellow circle with a blue outline which forms a triangle. There is a black bird lying on the ground with its wings spread out and another bird in the air near the sun.

One of a series of twelve paintings "after the manner of" twelve artists. The posters are part of what is referred to by the accompanying literature as a "caduceus" series by Roussel Laboratories in France. The images really represent the staff of Aesculapius (one serpent encircling the staff)as opposed to a caduceus (two serpents encircling the staff, coming from opposite directions). The posters have numbers on the back ranging from 147 to 158, this being no. 156.
